My vote goes to Greek! whether or not most of the roots of the words in most of the languages are Greek! especially in medicine. Greek were a universal language once before and i think it should be again.

correct. the "union" bahais refer to is IMPERIALISM, which is a dead concept.

postmodernism's main premise, for better or worse is pluralism.

postmodernism's main problem is that it attempts to get rid of absolutisms, but does so by insistance that the pluralism be taken as an absolute!

so, a "project of re-integration" is needed, to restore the valid subcomponenet memes from within the spiritual traditions, but get rid of the ones that are outmoded.

Throughout all repeat all of human history the trend in human affairs has been towards greater and great union....all the other attributes of this union will naturally follow....currency, language weights and measures...etc

Please can we refrain from these nostrodamus like machinations shoe-horning everything into some prediction made by the Baha'i faith...it's a sign of insecurity in my view....

Esperanto? Forget it. What is the preferred language at international conferences in science, medicine, finance, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics? It is English. Experts in advanced and technical disciplines are not about to waste their time changing to another language that doesn't have the history or the vocabulary to meet the demands of these specialties.

Abdu'l-Baha did speak highly of the Esperanto effort, but when we look closely, the Baha'i teachings speak of humanity choosing or creating a language. The whole problem is not _which_ language, but the fact that the whole of humanity accepts it. Abdu'l-Baha and Baha'u'llah spoke highly of Arabic too.

Any authentic discussion about economics will quickly lead to a discussion of capitalism vs. communism (and/or other "anti-captialist" paradigms), which is really about bourgeois vs. bohemian memes, and the whole sad history of romanticism recoiling in horror from the industrial revolution, and creating the cousin ideologies of fascism and marxism.

But, since bahai are supposed to "avoid politics", a dead end is quickly reached.

Now, for the purists (this is the mainstream meme amongst bahai elites), avoidance of the dirty work involved in actually contributing to social progress is a virtue. However, the rest of the world sees such purist mentalities as irrelevant in relation to the forces that are shaping people's lives.

Thus, the Farhans of bahai have created an even more etherealist version of purism, they float high above the "materialistic" world, creating the "spiritual conditions" that they somehow think will lead, via a system of universal ineptitude and impracticality, to world peace.

PART 4

So in the best interests of humanity, those of us who have been long time Baha'is and have actually read the Writings for years and thought about how to apply them in the real world had better step up to the plate and get on this with some actual thought regardless of any draconian personal consequences because we are going to die in the gutter too with the rest of mankind unless somebody gets some insight going on what is happening and what we should do to avoid mind bending world wide economic catastrophe.

I tried to do my part with starting to write Ruhi Book 1929 here on BR so i guess I will try to ramp up the discourse as long as I am actually employed and getting a pay check that does not bounce and can still pay my cable broadband bill and make some more hopefully educational posts.

So, let's get to it. Study these links this coming week and let's get the class going for some discussion!

PART 3

This last approach is going to be a little hard to enforce with the subject of economics since THERE AREN'T ANY WRITINGS IN THE BAHA'I FAITH ON MACRO OR MICRO ECONOMICS that can be blindly parroted for continuous psychological "guidance" by automatons that is nuanced enough to deal with the magnitude of what we are facing now worldwide. There just isn't any pre-authorized air tight rote scripture to follow. This is going to be a toughie for the new Ruhi Baha'is. People are going to have to actually reason and (gasp) think for themselves regarding economics. Filling in pre-approved answers into blanks or multiple choice questions isn't going to be so easy because (OMG!) THERE IS NO GUIDANCE IN THE WRITINGS on what to do! We have to figure it out, however, FAST through actual intellectual inquiry, investigation, and individual thought or starve to death in the streets worldwide.

This is indeed an odd situation since the fate of the entire world may now hang in the balance on perceptive economic thought and insight and the Baha'is have no developed body of economic thought to offer. We apparently completely missed the Great Depression in the 1930's as an economic crisis to spur some actual thought? Now it is 80 years later and the thought cupboard is bare.

So writing anything based upon developed morality or conscience is out because the logic system of any argument based upon individual ethics can be over turned at any time by nine men in Haifa by Divine Right. But trying to educate them on some point so they will use THEIR own individual consciences to rule for everyone else in the world may STILL be very much a worthy goal. So at least I feel any thinking person should try for that to help out the situation as best they can.

(NOTE: Baquia, I have posted several long "Ruhi Book 1929" economic posts but they keep being thrown into some kind of "hold for moderation" limbo. They seem to be lost for days and never recovered, So i will try again with shorter posts. It also may be because these posts had many http links in them. Well, a world currency will come into being only if there is something to spend it on that is not destroyed every 70 years by recurring systemic failure. In fact, the 500 year old economic system of the entire world may well be on the way to complete collapse and the Baha'is have no system of thought or discourse of any kind in place on either macro or micro economics because educated people in any field of endeavor in recent years are terrified to make any intellectual statements in the Faith of any kind for fear of being called on the carpet as to their motives and whether their ideas and insight are approved by the tiny clique that controls all approved and authorized thought on any subject in the faith. What happened to Alison Marshall and Senn McGlinn could happen to anyone at any time. So it is much better to keep quiet. Even better still is not to think about anything to avoid trouble. One must police all thought each day lest one think or say something that is not approved.

"We have inherited a dangerous delusion from Christianity that our individual conscience is supreme. This is not a Baha'i belief. In the end, in the context of both our role in the community and our role in the greater world, we must be prepared to sacrifice our personal convictions or opinions.
